i saw that movie juice in '92, remember? epps n shakur. this was my primary inspiration (as mainstream as it may be)to start cuttin and backspinnin. my tatse in "rap" at that point in time was bay area gangster, like short, mac mall, e40 n all that. my brother gave me a copy of edutainment by bdp, and i wasnt hearin it at that point. i was however hearing "sons of the p" by d.u. but the catalyst album for me would be "'93 'til infinity" by the souls of mischief.
since then i've been a fairly narrow minded mother fucker. "hiphophiphophiphophiphop!". i would stipulate a definition of the genre. but that would take a while. however, what i enjoy right now: j-live, mhz, pete rock, the grouch, those kids abstract elements on this iuma site got it goin on too, (they could benefit from some more creative scratching, call me fellas).
in my beats, you will find the backbone of a track is the sample. duh, right. but the choice of sample/influence is a good hip-hop-disc-jock's job.
